About Noida ( New Okhla Industrial Development Area ) Uttar Pradesh

Over the past 25 years, NOIDA has emerged as a planned, integrated, modern Industrial City that is well connected to Delhi through a network of roads, national highways and the ultra-modern DND flyover, offering inter-road linkages to different parts of North India. NOIDA is one of the largest planned industrial townships of Asia, and it symbolizes harmony between human habitat and Industrial Enterprise in India.

NOIDA is an important part of the Industrial landscape of the nation. It is part of the National Capital Region (NCR) and is spread over 20,316 hectares, with most sectors fully developed. NOIDA offers a pollution free high standard of living and a highly supportive industrial environment with its unique infrastructure providing numerous, matchless facilities. Today, it stands as an enviable monument of the concept of integrated Industrial Township, with its smooth and wide roads, well developed land, uninterrupted power supply, clean and safe drinking water, unfailing telephony, and splendid residential complexes in a serene and peaceful environment.

LOCATION

Located at the doorstep of Delhi, NOIDA is only 14 Kms. away from Connaught Place and New Delhi Railway Station, both of which are in the heart of New Delhi. The 5.5 km. long, eight lane NOIDA Toll Bridge across Yamuna connecting Maharani Bagh in Delhi to NOIDA has further reduced the distance, time and cost of commuting between Delhi and NOIDA. NOIDA has all the key advantages of Delhi without having its disadvantages.

NOIDA is bounded by NH-24 By-Pass in the North beyond which the Ghaziabad Development Area exists, in the East by River Hindon beyond which Greater NOIDA Industrial Development Area exists, in the West by River Yamuna beyond which are the States of Delhi and Haryana and in the South is the meeting point of the rivers Yamuna and Hindon.

INSTITUTIONAL

NOIDA has given topmost priority to the development of Educational Institutions. Leading schools such as Amity International, Apeejay, Army Public School, D.P.S, Khaitan, Cambridge, and Somerville provide school level education facilities to attract children of from both NOIDA and Delhi residents. The number of Higher Education, Management and Technical Institutions abound in NOIDA. Incidentally, IIM Lucknow has NOIDA as one of its centers of operation.

COMMERCIAL

Side by side with the creation of commercial canters in each sector and as a part of its planned and synchronous development, a full-fledged commercial complex has been developed in sector-18. One can get everything from on ordinary writing paper & stationery to fashionable garments, simple tools & tackles to electrical & electronic goods & appliances. This area is replete with well known stores such as Ebony, Nanz, Rayban, U.C.B., Red Tape, Hot Breads, Levis, Reebok, Adidas, Parx and Raymonds. There are large & spacious buildings here such as the newly built Center Stage Shopping Mall, Ocean Plaza, Sab Mall, Vishal Chambers. NOIDA city center is being developed on a 99 hectare plot. The city center will have large number of facilities such as offices of trade and commerce, cultural centers, service industries, five star hotels, international standard restaurants, whole sale outlets, multiplex, center for socio- cultural activities, government/semi-government offices, public facilities, residential blocks & residence cum work centers, and premises for informal and unorganized sectors. On completion, the city center is expected to give a face lift- a new identity to NOIDA.

DREAM HOUSING PROJECTS

About 35% of NOIDA is being developed into residential areas. 450 sq. kilometers of land has been ear marked as residential areas and the rest is meant for group housing projects. For the working class professionals, which includes engineers and employees of different establishments, projects have been initiated involving construction of more than 3000 residential units. Plans are also afoot to create a Senior Citizens' residential complex.

GOLF COURSE & CULTURAL CENTRE

NOIDA has a Golf course of International Standards. The authorities have undertaken the construction of an Indira Gandhi Cultural Center which will serve as a forum for various socio-cultural activities of this integrated township.

GRID - IRON CONCEPT

NOIDA has been planned on the grid iron concept and employs state-of-the-art technology in Engineering and Urban Planning. Significantly, it conceptualizes the needs of a fast-developing city of the future. The Action Plan and approach compares well with international standards and is aimed at providing rapid momentum to the growth of the industrial sector both in the State of Uttar Pradesh and the Country.

POWER SUPPLY AND TELECOM

NOIDA has uninterrupted power supply. Telephony in NOIDA is digital and provided through optical fiber cable. It has a state-of-the art electronic exchange providing Integration Service Digital Network (ISDN) services facilitating high quality voice, data and image transfer; inter computer file transfer; high quality and speed fax transmission; video conferencing and a variety of phone plus services. NOIDA has inter dialing facility with Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and other adjoining towns, reducing the cost of communication to any town which is within 200 Kilometers.

ROADS

The roads in NOIDA are smooth and wide for movement of traffic. NH 2, Link Road, Kondli Road, NOIDA-Greater NOIDA Expressway, the NOIDA-Agra-Mathura Expressway currently under construction and the eight-lane DND Toll bridge flyover provide additional ease and comfort to road-traffic into and out of the city of NOIDA. The DND flyover with Toll Bridge and Toll Plaza is a unique project. The NOIDA Authority maintains more than 400 Kms of internal roads and 125 Kms of boundary roads which make the intra-city-road-traffic comfortable.

ENVIRONMENT

This year, with a view to keep the city green and clean and hence maintain the ecological balance , a project to develop parks in 165 acres of land comprising of 95 acres of green belt and 150 kms of road side tree-plantations is being initiated. Two sewage treatment plants are also being planned. These plants, once operational, will produce 70mn liters of water per day which will irrigate the green belt areas and parks. Underground water supply facilities are being created to provide for water at cheaper rates for irrigation purposes. To maintain the ecological balance, the Authority aims to involve NGOs and Government organisations in the development and the maintenance of green belts and parks. Besides raising public awareness towards environmental issues, this approach will give a new dimension and direction to the task. NOIDA plans to direct its attention towards planting traditional trees which include about 65,000 neem, jamun, tamarind, gullar, sesame, arjun and pilkhan saplings.

GREEN NOIDA, CLEAN NOIDA

Unlike many other industrial areas, infrastructure facilities in this area have well preceded development. Emphasis has been laid on developing NOIDA as a green heaven - named GREEN NOIDA CLEAN NOIDA.

STATE-OF-THE-ART INFRASTRUCTURE

The NOIDA Authority has developed and promoted a number of green belts, with fountains , gardens and parks to give further impetus to its pollution free environment. A modern, efficient and comprehensive infrastructure comprising of residential facilities, commercial areas, business centers, office complexes and recreational areas will complement the continuously developing industrial sectors within the NOIDA limits.

LAW AND ORDER

NOIDA has impeccable law and order. To make this possible, the network of Police Check Posts, Police Stations and round-the-clock Police Monitoring and Patrolling has been set up through out NOIDA, similar to the network in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Noida Film City
The 100 acre Noida Film City, has been a host to a number of shootings for various feature films; both for the mainstream Hindi cinema and for a large number of regional films. It is presently the hub of all major news channels and famous studios. It caters to the demands of the shooting and production of a large number of television serials, news and other entertainment cum education programs for various channels. The Film City is also a gateway to Noida's twin city Greater Noida.

Entertainment City
Noida is set to emerge as the entertainment hotspot of the country with India's largest theme-based amusement park - Entertainment City - scheduled to open next month. Spread over an area of 145 acres, the 1200 crore park is coming up in Sector 38A just across the road from the Center stage mall.
